Over bank holiday weekend Blind Tiger Bolton, hosted a killer charity event with some absolutely amazing bands and acoustic acts. The festival started at 2:00pm and was packed full with an acoustic set then many brilliant bands right until midnight, followed by a DJ set which lasted until curfew at 4:00am. The one off event was definitely a must see for local music lovers, and led the bar to be rammed full of music fans who all seemed to be having the time of their life. A wide range of music was performed during the day, attracting people from very different musical backgrounds and the collaboration of the many different genres brought people together for a good cause, helping raise "a shit load" for local charities, and everyone had a blast!

Some of the many artists who performed at the fab event include: James Holt, The Attic Doctors, Dirty Bare Feet, Our Fold, The Strawberries and headlining, The Blinders, as well as many more through out the day (*full details of line up will be listed below). I will be reviewing the event and individually all the bands who performed from 7:30pm until midnight when The Blinders closed the set.

The Attic Doctors

The Attic Doctors are a 5 piece indie-rock band from Bolton with a distinctive up beat sound that reflects aspects of older music integrated with a much newer style of performance. They were the first band I saw at the event and they didn't disappoint. Despite being one of the earliest bands to perform they already had the crowd on their feet and, for me, it was a great way to kick off the night. The band performed songs from their newest EP "Remedy" and last years single "Milkshake". I'd recommend The Attic Doctors and expect that they will be seen a lot more in the near future as they have a lot to offer as a group and already have a good number of gigs lined up over the next few months, including another charity event supporting "Stand Up To Cancer" at "Blind Tiger" Bolton on the 1st July and several dates in Manchester.

Dirty Bare Feet

I can't quite pinpoint the genre of Dirty Bare Feet, but whatever it is, it works. I'd call it reggae, meets rap, meets blues, meets alternative rock, and it creates an amazing yet unusual and unique vibe, which I'd love to hear more of. The five piece band from Preston are unbelievably distinguishable and create very lively music with a political undertone. I'd definitely recommend you check out their newest single "Shipwrecked" on ITunes or Spotify so you can hear what I'm talking about. Using a guitar combined with a trombone and sometimes a didgeridoo, they create deep and meaningful music, yet still something you can dance and have fun to. Probably one of the best and most unique small bands Ive had seen in a while and I'd say they were one of my favourites from the night. If you enjoy music (so pretty much everyone) keep your eye out for this band as they are amazing musicians and put on a great performance. You can catch them next at "Evan Fest" Preston on 29th April, "Castlefield Food Festival" Manchester on 13th May, "Blind Tiger" Bolton on 1st July and "Sonder Festival" Manchester on 2nd July.

The Strawberries

The Strawberries are a four piece psychedelic rock band from Leeds. Although their sound was almost a complete contrast to that of Dirty Bare Feet, the lively atmosphere continued to fill the venue through the entirety of their set especially as more people were arriving to the club. Opening their set with an instantly gripping song captured the attention of everyone in the venue with the heavily guitar based intro and was a great way to start their performance. The band appeared to be having a great time while performing, this was reflected in the way the crowd reacted and got involved in the music, it was a relatively small intimate venue and the band really did take advantage of that, getting so involved in the music that a guitar string was accidentally snapped nearing the end of the set. I feel that it was clear that the band has taken influence from classic artists, such as The Rolling Stones and David Bowie as this was present in the way they performed and interacted with the audience, I predict they will go a long way especially since they are such a young and talented group. Their newest release "Fantasy machine" is a fantastic track and is leaning towards a more alternative path, Its one you should really go and find online. With more events lined up over this coming summer you should expect to see much more of The Strawberries, they have upcoming performances at "Audio Glasgow" on 21st April, "Festevol Gardens" Liverpool on 30th April and "This Feeling" Leeds on 16th June.

Our Fold

Our Fold were a clear local favourite of the night and had possibly the widest range of people in their audience. From the old to the young, the crowd was filled with passionate fans singing along to every lyric. The four piece indie rock band from Bolton created a buzzing atmosphere in the venue, everyone wanted more. They played an engaging set as more and more people were arriving at the event. By this point the club looked almost as full as it could get and many people had taken to the dance floor. The band did play one extra song as a special request by fans - who were still asking for another after that! The sound of the band is similar to that of classic 90s rock bands and it is clear that they have taken influences from great bands such as Nirvana and James, this is particularly obvious in their earlier tracks. You should definitely seek out Our Fold and go to see them for yourself as their stage presence was phenomenal and they definitely put on a show and a half. I imagine they will be seen around quite a lot over summer as they have played many major events in the past and are definitely one to look out for.

The Blinders

The Blinders are an an amazing three piece alternative band who are based in Manchester. Their very 'in your face' performance is exciting and engaging, involving their audience through out every aspect of it. The band really did take over the venue, coming forward into the crowd and encouraging fans to take part in the show as well as having someone join the fans while wearing a pig mask to promote their new single "Swine". I don't think Blind Tiger had ever seen a crowd go so crazy for a band and I couldn't fault their performance one bit, it was definitely an experience I wont be forgetting any time soon. The sound of the band is unique and diverse, I'd describe it as a loud mixture of punk and rock with underlying psychedelic vibes which creates an eerie but brilliant tone and the upbeat nature of the music combines perfectly with the style of the band. First impressions of the band is that they were extremely intense and passionate this was shown through the way they presented themselves and by the chemistry within the group, each of their individual appearances added another layer of depth to their image which perfectly reflected their psychedelic style of music. I am definitely hoping to see The Blinders again soon as I enjoyed the gig so much. If you want to experience their brilliant performance you can find them at "Social Bar" Doncaster on 25th April, "Camden Rocks Festival" Camden on 3rd June and "Cotton Clouds Festival" Oldham on 12th August.

The night at Blind Tiger was one of the most interesting and action packed events I've been to in a while, it's just a bonus that it was all for a great cause as all money made will be donated to local charities. I could re-live that day over and over again and I guarantee I wouldn't get bored. A big thanks goes to all the acts who performed and all the staff who made it happen. Its a fab venue and if your local you should go and check it out.
