The other day, with support from Marcadia and The Slumdogs, Strange Bones put on an energy fuelled performance for a good number of sweat drenched fans at Blind Tiger in Bolton. Each of the bands brought something new and different to the club stage, adding more to the night as it progressed.

Marcadia

The local band, Marcadia, from Wigan opened the night with some bangers. Their sound has undertones of Manchester in the 90s, taking influences from bands such as The Stone Roses and Oasis but adding a more contemporary rock and upbeat layer to the classic style. This is one reason they stood out for me as a band, since I really do love this era of music, especially the distorted vibes given off by 80s and 90s bands. Additionally, I really do feel that Marcadia could continue to offer a lot to the genre and without doubt I’d recommend you have a look for them online or keep your eye out for their upcoming events in your area. You can find them next at The RS Bar, Sheffield on 30th June.

The Slumdogs

Leeds based indie rock band, The Slumdogs, brought more vigour to the Blind Tiger stage. Their vibrant set was filled with enthusiasm and passion. The band really did give it all to their performance, for a relatively new band they had an immense stage presence and had an impeccable performance. Being totally immersed in the music, the front man of the band captured the attention of everyone in the bar with his unusual dance moves – almost seeming possessed. You should go and find The Slumdogs or watch them live and experience them for yourselves.

Strange Bones

The North Western alternative rock band, Strange Bones, have an extremely loud, raw sound. Their bold act creates a top class show and results in a fab night. The interactive performance of Strange Bones is pretty difficult to compress, with not one dull moment through the entire set. The headlining act undoubtedly electrified the crowd, their performance only partly took place on stage with their band coming into the audience and intensifying the atmosphere, as well as stage dives mixed with the wearing of a balaclava. This was another way the band connected with their audience and positively influenced their performance. Having released a successful EP, “We Are the Rats”, earlier this year fans were buzzed for the live performance and the band didn’t disappoint. Their newer releases are heading in a heavier direction than previous tracks as they are expanding on their repertoire; however they are still sticking with what they know, love and do great with. Closing their set with “God Save the Teen”, a fan favourite, the band got the audience involved with a crowd sing along and a second stage dive to end the night with a bang. Probably the most energised performance I’ve been to in a while and I left in a complete daze. Would highly recommend Strange Bones live and if I were you I’d be looking for them online right now, can’t wait to be seeing them again soon along with Cabbage in July. You can catch them next at Jimmy’s, Manchester on 27th April or with Cabbage and The Blinders at the O2 Ritz, Manchester on 1st July.

On the whole Blind Tiger Hosted a great event and I wish I could re live the night again and again.
